A member of the 10is Academy in Ely won his first ATP Tour title at the 2024 Hangzhou Open.

VJ Sundar has not only made waves on the international tennis scene but also continues to inspire the next generation of players right here in Ely.

Vijay teamed up with fellow Indian player Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan to secure the doubles title in a thrilling final on September 24.

After a tough battle, they defeated Germany’s Constantin Frantzen and Hendrik Jebens in a super tie-breaker.

This title win marked Vijay’s first ATP crown, making it a career-defining moment for him.

When not on tour, Vijay trains and plays at 10is Academy, bringing his high-level experience and passion for tennis to local players.

His presence at the academy provides an incredible opportunity for aspiring tennis players in the region to learn from a professional who competes on the world stage.

Sebastien Scaux, head coach at 10is Academy, said: “Having VJ as part of the academy is invaluable.

“His recent triumph is a testament to his hard work and determination, qualities that he shares with our players during training sessions."

With more than 16 titles under its belt in just three years, the academy continues to develop competitive players, from juniors to adults.

"As VJ prepares for his next international challenge, his success will undoubtedly motivate players at 10is Academy to aim high, both on and off the court," added Mr Scaux.

"10is Academy, based in Ely, is a hub for tennis enthusiasts of all ages.

"Offering professional coaching, social events, and competitive opportunities, the academy strives to develop talent within the local community while fostering a love for the sport.
