In a celebration of the French Open tennis tournament at Roland Garros in Paris, Ely Tennis Club (ETC) hosted a special all-day event in June.
The day began with the juniors taking part in a French Open Team Challenge, this was closely fought and played in fun and with a positive spirit.
This was followed by a timed tennis doubles tournament in the afternoon that saw 16 adults battling it out in a thrilling and closely fought contest.
The Roland Garros event was the first in a series of annual summer events held by ETC. A Wimbledon session was also held on Sunday, July 7.
And with a growing junior membership, ETC is offering another series of Summer Camps, open to members and non-members.
Whether your budding Andy Murray or Amanda Robson or completely new to tennis or want to improve your game, ETC has tennis camps to suit all ages and standards.
This includes supportive coaching, a wide range of activities and the chance to meet and mix with a friendly group of people.
The camps can also provide the perfect way to keep youngsters active and occupied during the school breaks. Camps and coaching session can be booked with ETC’s coaching provider at: https://nowtennis.courseprogress.co.uk/onlinejoining/home
A spokesperson for the club said: “A fantastic Roland Garros day was the perfect event to kick off our summer series, and tickets are selling fast for the Summer Camps.
"In other news, we are delighted that six of our teams are battling for promotion in the Cambridge Dunlop Summer Leagues, and that our under-eights team did really well in their first National League season.
"With the Wimbledon tournament taking place in July, and the weather finally starting to improve, why not come and give tennis a try. We’d love to welcome you to the club.”
