Soham Town Rangers' miserable start to the season continued with a damaging 5-0 defeat at the hands of a vibrant Lakenheath FC.
This was a fifth consecutive defeat for the Rangers, including four successive league defeats, placing the side rock-bottom of the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division.
Lakenheath scored two goals in the first half from two set pieces, one from a free kick and another from a corner.
Soham couldn't get a foothold in the game and struggled to lay a glove on the very well-drilled home side, who are now first in the division.
Some tactical changes at halftime saw Soham attack more, but they were repeatedly beaten on the counterattack for three more second-half goals.
Chairman of Soham said: "There are no excuses for the defeat, but that is five defeats in five games for Soham as they look to entertain Hadleigh on Saturday (August 19).
"The rebuild continues, but they have to help themselves.
"Soham has signed many young players, all with great potential, but Lakenheath were stronger physically as a team, and in truth, it was men against boys for large parts."
