Students from the Mark Farnham Schools of Tae Kwon-Do have won a whopping 15 medals at the Tae Kwon-Do Association of Great Britain (TAGB) Welsh Championships.

Around 24 students, including students from Ely and Wisbech, travelled to Cardiff Metropolitan University on May 21 for the 2023 championships and the 40th anniversary of the competition.

Held in a massive arena, more than 750 competitors took part, and more than 200 officials were on hand to monitor the 22 fighting areas, which ran throughout the day.

The students competed in Pattern, Sparring, Destruction, Team Patterns and Team Sparring events during the day and amassed 15 medals for their efforts.

Mark Farnham said: "To win any award at this event is a very serious achievement, so very well done to the students who achieved placings."

Four students from Ely managed to win medals, with three winning silver in the Girls, Ladies and Men's Black Belt categories.

One Ely student achieved gold in the Girls Blue Belt Team Sparring, and the Wisbech student also earned gold in the Female Black Belt Sparring.

The Mark Farnham Schools of Tae Kwon-Do students are now working towards the World Championships in July at Coventry, featuring more than 3000 competitors over three days.
