Good times seem to be back on the horizon for Soham Town Rangers despite being denied their first win in 2023 in dramatic fashion.
The Greens were on course for a ninth Eastern Counties Premier Division victory this season when they led Hadleigh United through Aaron Hudson’s first half strike.
But Thomas Warren's goal on 88 minutes stopped Soham from sensing the taste of glory.
Although they dropped two points, first team coach Ben Farmer, who took charge of the team in place of Lloyd Groves who was absent, had plenty of positives to reflect on.
“I thought we were pretty unlucky; we controlled most of the game,” said Farmer.
“We defended really well, moved the ball a lot better and looked like a threat going forward.
“It was a late goal again, which hurt us, and we should have had three points.”
It has been a tough run for Soham of late, having faced three of the league’s current top six within seven days and could head into this weekend a place above the bottom two.
The return of one of Soham’s key players in Joe Carden at the weekend, following a spell of absence, has provided a welcome boost for the team.

And even though their winless run has stretched to 12 games, Farmer feels his team’s luck is changing.
“[It feels like] our luck seems to be changing, so I think we've got some good times over the horizon,” he said.
“We had aspirations to be challenging, and that hasn't happened, but the players have given everything at the minute.
“We'll keep giving our all and that's all we can ask for.”
Soham head to Walsham Le Willows on March 25, 3pm.
*Ely City, whose league game with Mulbarton Wanderers last weekend was postponed, visit the same opponents this Saturday, 3pm.
