Ely City joint boss Guy Habbin feels more time to turn a string of positive performances into points is needed if his players are to make progress.
Habbin has not enjoyed the taste of victory since he took charge of his first game with joint manager Luke McAvoy in a 1-1 deadlock with Mildenhall Town on February 4.
And recent form has not been kind to City, suffering six Eastern Counties Premier Division defeats in a row with three of those losses against the current top six.
“I don’t think you can hide when you’re consistently not winning games; it affects morale in the team,” said Habbin.
“There have been positives within performances, but we need to get a positive result.”
Ely, who lost 2-0 at Hadleigh United last Saturday, remained winless at home in 2023 after Brantham Athletic’s late winner secured away triumph at the Demcom Stadium on February 28.

Habbin knows the team, which sits 15th in the league, has not made much progress in the standings since his arrival and is keen to bolster the squad, such as increasing its average age.
“There’s always going to be a process of looking at the squad and seeing if we can improve it,” he said.
“I think with the number of games left, players are quite happy to see the season out.
“We’d be crazy to see beyond the next game, so we need to focus on getting those building blocks in place and build towards winning games of football.”
Ely travel to mid-table Sheringham on March 4, 3pm.
*Soham Town Rangers are still without a win since Boxing Day after going down 1-0 at Long Melford in the Eastern Counties Premier Division.
The Greens aim to prevent a nine-game winless run at home to Kirkley & Pakefield on March 4, 3pm.
