A pair of lucky motorists escaped serious injury following a two-vehicle crash on the A10 at Ely earlier this morning.

Pictures show a van in a ditch and half of a Renault Clio left at the side of the road – the car’s entire rear end was damaged.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Police said: "We were called at 6.30am to reports of a two-vehicle collision involving a car and a van on the A10.

"The van rolled into a ditch on the roadside as a result.

"It does not appear anyone has been seriously injured and the road has been closed while the vehicles are recovered."

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "This morning’s road traffic collision on the A10 was on the Ely bypass near Little Downham.

"We were called at just before 6.30am to reports of a collision involving a car and a van.

"All casualties were out of their vehicles when the crews arrived so no firefighting action was needed. The crew had left the scene by 7.15am."

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “An ambulance attended a road traffic collision on the A10 just after 6.45am this morning.

"One patient was transported to Addenbrooke’s Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
