An East Cambridgeshire doctor and a practice manager have been shortlisted for prestigious awards.
Dr Elizabeth Turner is a GP at Mereside Medical Practices, which includes Staploe Medical Centre in Soham, Cathedral Medical Centre in Ely and Haddenham Surgery.
She, along with Demet Jackson, the Group Practice Operations Manager at the group, has been nominated at the 2024 General Practice Awards.
Dr Turner has been nominated for the GP of the Year Award, while Demet Jackson has been shortlisted for Practice Manager of the Year Award.
The local GP, who has been with Mereside Medical since 2017, has been described as a "natural leader", with "boundless energy and commitment".
Dr Turner said: "I fell in love with primary care as a medical student and when I moved to Mereside Medical found a place that I could feel confident and safe in my practice.
"Since becoming a partner four years ago I have been encouraged to grow as a leader with the support of the partnership and the wider team.
"I feel so lucky and grateful to be able to share my passion and enthusiasm with my colleagues, trainees, students and patients."
Demet Jackson joined Mereside Medical in 2022. Her colleagues said that she has an "infectious positive attitude" and is the "driving force" behind health campaigns and improving online access at the surgeries.
Dr Richard Brixey, a Managing Partner at the Practices, said that both Dr Turner and Demet Jackson are "already winners in their eyes".
He added that it was "fantastic" to see the pair recognised for the work they do in East Cambridgeshire.
He said: "They are invaluable members of our team who continue to go above and beyond to improve patient care and the services we provide locally."
The General Practice Awards will take place in London on Friday, December 6.
