An East Cambridgeshire fundraiser completed two sponsored 10k runs in memory of a friend.
Cathy Gibb de Swarte took on the Sandringham 10k on September 29 and Ely Trifest on Sunday October 13 in tribute to Joan Sharpe, the wife of the president of Littleport Band.
Her efforts have raised £452 for Littleport Brass Band.
President Bill Sharpe and his family attended the band’s memorial concert in honour of his wife, who was also mother of three band members, Simon, Graham, currently and formerly Beverley.
Joan had been a tireless fundraiser for the band and Cathy said she couldn’t think of a finer way to remember Joan than to do some fundraising herself.
The concert, with all proceeds from the afternoon’s entertainment going to Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust, was held at Joan’s favourite place, the Littleport Ex-Servicemen’s Club.
They also had a bingo game break as Joan played there every Wednesday.
After the superb and well-attended concert, a cheque for £452 was presented by Cathy to Littleport Band Chair and musician member Sue Stygall to much applause.
