Rosemary Westwell review's Witchford Amateur Dramatics Society's production of Legally Blonde.

What an amazing show.

It was full of pizzazz, infectious energy and non-stop entertainment with a message.

This large cast threw themselves into the production making it one of the most thrilling experiences I have encountered.

A lot of work had gone into this event for which all involved must be congratulated.

Despite the theme, that a blonde girl is not always an empty-headed creature but can learn and grow as she overcomes the challenges that meet her, there were still many other moments of heightened entertainment, exhilarating dance routines, meaningful interaction and humour.

When Elle Woods (very ably played by Courtney), a vibrant sorority queen, was dumped by her boyfriend, Warner Huntingdon (admirably represented by Joe), she follows him and joins the law school he has entered to win him back.

As she grapples with a completely new life involving studying, she flourishes as a prospective lawyer, supported by her new friend Emmett Forest (very well played by Hugo).

Their friendship grows and she finally realizes that he is her true love.

The path she travelled was festooned with colourful episodes.

One of the most outstanding characters she met was Paulette (Dani) a vivacious, hilarious hairdresser who was particularly memorable in the ‘Bend and Snap’ routine as she tried to hit it off with the delivery boy.

Other main characters: Paulette Buonofonte (Dani), Brooke Wyndham (Antonia), Vivienne Kensington (Mia) and Professor Callahan (Aiden) also added spirited authenticity to the plot.

Choreography, costumes, lights, and scenery were amazing and filled this production with life.

The dance ensembles especially the ‘tragic’ Greek chorus were phenomenal and in this fantastic production there was hardly a moment without us feeling swathed in a kaleidoscope of colour, energy and an infectious rhythm.

Even Bruiser, the dog, (Wilson), played his part to perfection.

This was an amazing event.
