An inquest has been opened into the death of Mike Lynch’s co-defendant who was struck by a car on a Cambridgeshire road.
Stephen Chamberlain was out jogging on August 17 in Stretham, near Ely, and a vehicle hit him as he tried to cross the A1123.
He died three days later in the early hours of August 20 at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.
The 52-year-old's inquest was opened at a hearing held at New Shire Hall, in Alconbury Weald.
Caroline Jones, one of the area coroner’s for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, explained the vehicle was travelling between Stretham and Wicken and crossed a “humpback river bridge”.
She said: “... [The vehicle] was presented with a runner crossing the road from the nearside to the offside between two parts of a public footpath or bridleway.
“[It] has struck the runner to the offside of the vehicle causing significant injuries...”
A provisional cause of death was given as 1A traumatic head injury.

Ms Jones added: “At present time, police investigations remain ongoing and no further dates have yet been fixed for proceedings to be resume.
“I therefore adjourn today’s hearing to a date to be fixed at the conclusion of any police investigation and potential prosecutions.
“In doing so, I extend my condolences to the family of Stephen Chamberlain.”
In a loving tribute, Mr Chamberlain’s family described him as “an amazing individual whose only goal in life was to help others in any way possible”.
They said: “He made a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
“He will be deeply missed but forever in the hearts of his loved ones.”
Mr Chamberlain was Mr Lynch’s co-defendant in a US fraud trial in which both men were acquitted following the $11bn sale of software company Autonomy.
When Mr Chamberlain’s death was made public, a search and rescue operation was underway in Italy after Mr Lynch’s superyacht sank off the coast of Sicily.
Mr Lynch's wife, Angela Bacares, was rescued along with 15 others. Both Mr Lynch and his daughter, Hannah, died, as well as five other people on board.
