East Cambridgeshire District Council is set to decide whether or not more than 80 new homes should be given the green light in Stretham.
In December 2023, applicant Long Term Limited submitted a planning application seeking 83 affordable homes with access, parking and landscaping to be built on Cambridge Road in Stretham.
The development would see an array of housing categories, including:
- Six one-bedroom and two two-bedroom flats under Social, Affordable or Intermediate rent
- 11 two-bedroom and 19 three-bedroom houses under Social, Affordable or Intermediate rent
- Four one-bedroom and two two-bedroom flats under Affordable Home Ownership
- 10 two-bedroom and 29 three-bedroom houses under Affordable Home Ownership
187 proposed parking spaces are also included in the plans.
The application has been met with support from nearby residents, many of which say that the development could be the "much needed" housing that Stretham needs.
One comment said: "As someone living in social housing and looking to buy a house, this development could provide a much-needed opportunity for people like me."
Another read: "This development of accessible housing options is fantastic for young families starting out."
The fate of the application will be decided on September 4 at 2pm. To read the application in full, click here. The reference number is: 23/01338/OUM
