A coach driver from Soham has been hit with a driving ban after she failed to notice a junction when driving last year.
On November 14, 2023, Alison Godfrey was driving a coach along Swaffham Heath Road, near Swaffham in Bulbeck, at around 5:30pm when she failed to give way at a junction.
She did not stop at the junction with the A1303 Newmarket Road and ended up hitting a silver Ford Fiesta which was travelling eastbound towards Newmarket.
The victim suffered serious injuries and was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital. In an interview, Godfrey said she hadn't seen the junction and could not stop in time.
On Thursday, 22 August, at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court, Godfrey, of Northfield Park, Soham, was sentenced to 10 weeks in prison, suspended for one year.
She had pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by careless driving at an earlier hearing.
She was also banned from driving for one year and ordered to pay a total of £239 in costs.
DC Alex Bond said: "This case serves as a wake-up call to all drivers to pay attention when they are driving.
"One lapse of concentration can have very serious consequences."
