Ms Cane (Lib Dem) was elected with 17,127 votes and a majority of 495 over her predecessor Lucy Frazer.
Ms Frazer (Cons) had previously been MP for the constituency for nine years and was serving at the culture secretary when she lost the seat.
A month into the role, Ms Cane told The Ely Standard that the environment is one of her main priorities.
She is now part of the Climate Change All Party Parliamentary Group, a cross-party of UK MPs working together to tackle the issue.
