The Yoga Hut Free Spirit Festival returned for a soul-nourishing day last weekend.

Sally Talbot hosted the intimate event, now in its third year, just outside of Littleport on July 27.

The festival evolved from a two hour workshop to a full day's itinerary featuring guest teachers and Sally hopes it will continue to grow.

Activities at the "magic-filled" day include yoga, energy flow, meditation, sacred singing bowls and intuitive guidance.

A yoga teacher for more than 20 years, Sally explained the event gives clients the chance to "connect with other like minded people".

She said: "They get a chance to feel free, to forget about life for a day, to feel empowered to be themselves, know that they have all they need within them to follow their dreams and live their best life.

"Everyone leaves feeling so happy and inspired. It's all I could ever wish for and more."

Until 2023, Sally was teaching regular yoga classes at The Paradise Centre in Newnham Street, Ely, and Atrium Fitness.

Starting out as a fitness instructor teaching aerobics, it wasn't until she joined a hotel in Cambridge as its assistant manager that she discovered her passion for yoga.

Moving from Ely to Redmere near Shippea Hill in 2014, Sally soon converted her summer house into a small yoga studio so she could run intimate classes.

It has since been extended to accommodate more clients, although class-sizes tend to stick to a maximum of five to six people.

Sally said: "Classes at The Yoga Hut are small and have a personal touch. The most wonderful, supportive community has been created here and friendships for life have been made.

"I have had people say that coming here is like therapy, and it's not about the yoga, but the feeling they get from being here.

"I now focus on longer workshops and special events. I love helping people to be the best versions of themselves, to follow their dreams, and to support them through the trickier times in life."

Sally has recently widened her offering, hosting online mindset mentoring and nervous system regulation classes as well as in-person sessions.

She added: "I have held sessions for friends and their family members who have been through a cancer diagnosis and have also taken my singing bowls to Arthur Rank Hospice when friends or family have been an inpatient there.

"Through the charity 'Something to Look Forward To' I offer free sessions to patients and their families who are facing a terminal cancer diagnosis."
