Littleport is spoilt for choice when it comes to grooming, whether human or canine, says Ely Standard columnist Lyn Gibb-de Swarte.
Hairdressers and barbers worthy of London’s Mayfair abound: For women, Bizzie Lizzie, Ponts Hill, Inspire,37 Wisbech Road, Infinity Hair, 10 Main Street, Ness & Emms, 15 Granby Street. And men, Tango Whiskey, 14 White Hart Lane, Crown Barbers, Longshanks and Magic Scissors all in Main Street.
At 7a Main Street, Erika’s Barbers is the oldest tonsorial establishment. Master barber Erika having served her apprenticeship with the original proprietor of many years, David Houghton, took over when he retired, 16 years ago!
Littleport’s dogs too are fortunate indeed to have their own top-class beauty parlours! Beth’s Nails to Tails is based in Jurassic Bark pet shop, Saxon Park, and Karine’s K9 and Tanstrims, have just got together to provide pampering for pooches in New Street.
Karine was a successful competitor on the television series One Man and His Dog with her two sheepdogs! There’s also a mobile pet salon, Riverview.
Kids are spoilt for choice too. There’s a free, but booking essential, Woodgreen Dog Champions hands-on workshop Tuesday July 30, 11am-12.30pm at Littleport Leisure Centre, for humans only, accompanied children from 5-11 years old, learning about dog training, making feeding time fun and more. Or at Feoffees Hall in City Road, Littleport artist, Laura Matthews aka artyfartymo, offers a creative workshop for 4–12-year-olds 10.30-12pm.
Mo says: “We will look at Manga style illustrations, pick our favourite Pokémon and create our very own original pocket monsters! It’s £10, but if funds are a problem, please let me know when you book at: artyfartymo@gmail.co"
