Cadet Flight Sergeant Davis Russellcook from Ely Air Cadet Squadron has been appointed as the Lord Lieutenant's Cadet for Cambridgeshire.
The position as a Lord Lieutenant's Cadet is held by just one or two cadets from each of the services each year.
Cadets chosen for this prestigious position are selected by The Lord Lieutenant, currently Julie Spence, after first being nominated as the best cadets within the county by the commanding officer.
For Davis, this was Wing Commander Rob Bradshaw RAFAC the officer commanding air cadets for Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
This honour will see Flight Sergeant Russellcook accompanying and assisting the Lord Lieutenant and her deputies at official events and at Royal family visits to the county for the next 12 months.
With this appointment, this marks a milestone in not only FS Russellcook, but also for Ely's Air Cadet Squadron as Davis is now the foruth Lord Lieutenant Cadet in a row from 1004 (Ely) Squadron.
The post was previously held last year by cadet warrant officer James Munday who was in the role from (2023-2024).
Before that, by Flight Sergeant Charlie Minchin (2022-2023) and before him Cadet Warrant Officer Rory Donoghue (2019-2022)
Flight Sergeant Russellcook joined 1094 Squadron in September of 2019 and since then has become a stalwart of the squadron.
"During his time as a cadet, Davis has thrown himself into whatever the air cadets had to offer," said Flight Lieutenant John Donoghue who is officer commanding 1094 (City of Ely) Squadron Air Training Corps.
"He has passed Wing Junior, Senior and Advanced Non-Commissioned Officers courses as well as the cadet Drill Instructor course. He has also represented the Squadron and Wing at various sporting activities.
"He has worked his way through the progressive training syllabus, achieving his Master cadet classification and been awarded his instructors lanyard. Davis has attended numerous parades, carried the Squadron Banner and Royal Air Force Association Banner as well as taking part in numerous public community engagement activities.
"Congratulations Davis on a tremendous cadet career and good luck for the future."
