The future of a popular Ely cinema remains uncertain as a national cinema chain refuses to confirm rumours it is closing.
It comes as the cinema chain announced it was considering shutting down a quarter of its cinemas in the UK as it draws up plans for a restructuring deal to cut costs.
The operator, which runs more than 100 cinemas in the UK, is set to close as many as 25 sites, with another 50 facing rent renegotiations.
The Ely Standard has been investigating the rumours of the closure which first appeared during a news segment on Heart Cambridgeshire.
On Friday, June 12, our reporter contacted Cineworld's customer services team to ask for confirmation of the rumour.
An operative said that Ely Cineworld will "definitely" not be closing despite restructuring plans.
However, a spokesperson for Cineworld Cinemas later told the Ely Standard: "We continue to review our options but we don't comment on rumours and speculation."
