Ely Arts Festival was a resounding success this year, with more than 7000 people attending a record 43 events in two weeks.

This year's festival doubles the number of events compared to last year and marks the most successful to date.

Among the highlights was a family fun day in Jubilee Gardens with music, dance, arts and even circus skills.

Star artists like Cliff Ward and Louise Beale also displayed their talents, while Laura Pearson-Clark undertook the challenge of creating a painting live, inspired by Vivaldi's Four Seasons.

Many workshops were available for attendees, with options to learn new skills in ceramics, samba drumming, and Linocut, led by Lizzie Ault.

"It shows how important the arts can be and we're really excited about our plans moving forward.

"We are keen to reach the whole community and 40pc of the events this year were free to attend.

"We're always keen to hear from individuals with new ideas.

"Huge thanks must go to the brilliant festival committee and all the wonderful local sponsors, without whom the festival would not be possible"
