Ely Hereward Rotary Club is calling on young people to enter a national youth photography competition.
Open to all young people up to the age of 17, the Young Photographer competition is one of a number of events available to young people organised by the Rotary.
Other competitions organised by the global network of 1.4 million people include Young Artist, Young Chef, Youth Speaks: A Debate, Young Filmmaker and Young Writer.
The Young Photographer competition gives participants the chance to express themselves through photography while interpreting a particular theme.
Hereward Rotary Club is organising local entries this year with winners, if selected, progressing to regional and national levels.
There are three stages of the competition: local heats, district finals and national finals.
The competition ran in 2021 when the University Boat Race came to Ely and saw a number of individuals enter.
Hereward Rotary Club's service team leader, Janet Porter, said: "You will need to produce a single photograph on this year’s theme which is “Wonderful Water”.
"You can interpret this as widely and imaginatively as you like. The photo just has to meet certain technical specifications, which we will give you, and – of course – it has to be all your own work.
"And where better to launch a competition with a water theme than at Ely’s annual water festival “Aquafest” - held this year on Sunday July 7."
She added: "This will give you lots of time to produce the perfect photograph before official entries are made in September."
Returning to the riverside of Lavender Green and Jubilee Gardens, Aquafest will feature a myriad of stalls offering goods from artwork to plants, along with multiple food and drink outlets promising to cater to every palate.
