Peacocks Tearoom welcomed more than 100 guests to its 20th anniversary celebration in Ely on Monday, June 10.

The tearoom poured its first cup of tea to the public in the family living room in 2004, and has expanded over the years into the kitchen, hallway, dining room and garden.A special lemon and lavender cake featuring the tearoom’s logo was baked by Rachel Peacock.A special lemon and lavender cake featuring the tearoom’s logo was baked by Rachel Peacock. Since then thousands of people have paid Peacocks a visit, including Cate Blanchett, Julian Barnes, Hugo Weaving and Richard Osman.

Friends, family, former employees and the tearoom mascot Denis (the dog) joined owners Rachel and George Peacock to toast the milestone with mugs of tea and glasses of fizz.

Rachel Peacock, co-founder, said “It was wonderful to be joined by so many familiar faces to help us celebrate and we were very lucky with the weather. I’d been checking the forecast all week and it looked ghastly.

"George and I never imagined that Peacocks would be so successful, it was the perfect way to mark our 20th Anniversary and thank as many people who had been involved as possible."

Peacocks is a multi-award-winning tearoom and won the Tea Guild’s Top Tea Place award in 2007.

In 2013, The Times listed Peacocks in their top five places to have tea, and in 2015 Country Living magazine named Peacocks as their favourite tearoom.
