A week-long initiative to raise awareness and funds for dementia was recently championed by Etheldred House in Histon.

Running from May 18 to 24, the activities aimed to provide mental and physical stimulation for residents living with dementia and increase community understanding of the condition.

The initiative was kicked off with a plant sale, all grown by the residents, raising more than £500 for nearby charities.

Sunday saw a family fun day at Etheldred House where a trishaw bike ride was very well received.

A peaceful Monday was followed by a particularly exciting Tuesday where an animal experience was organised.

The meeting and feeding of miniature donkeys were highlights.

Wednesday was mostly allocated to support Histon and Impington Hub's virtual dementia day.

The week neared its end with a panel discussion named 'Questions & Dementia' including Etheldred’s home manager, Santall, and Sam, a resident at Etheldred House who has dementia.

On Friday, a coffee morning and afternoon tea were enjoyed.

The efforts for Dementia Week ended with a community singalong.
