The manager of an Ely hotel has praised the response of Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service following a blaze yesterday (Thursday June 6).
Crews from Ely and Soham were called to a fire at the Lamb Hotel on Lynn Road at 10.06am.
Firefighters arrived to find a fire involving a tumble dryer on the first floor of the 15th Century, 37-room building.
Responding to the Ely Standard's news report, hotel general manager Samantha Jacobs said: "Thankfully it was minor, but could have turned nasty if not attended so quickly.

"It caused more chaos than harm. All the team are fine and all hotel evacuated quickly.
"The team reacted promptly and saved the day."
Wearing breathing apparatus, fire fighters used a hose reel to extinguish the fire and cleared the smoke using a positive pressure ventilation fan.
The cause of the fire was accidental.
