A fire broke out at an Ely hotel today (Thursday June 6).
Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue service said crews from Ely and Soham were called to the Lamb Hotel on Lynn Road at 10.06am.
Firefighters arrived to find a fire involving a tumble dryer on the first floor of the 15th Century, 37-room building.
Wearing breathing apparatus, they used a hose reel to extinguish the fire and cleared the smoke using a positive pressure ventilation fan.
One member of the public said they could see firefighters "carrying hose reel through the front entrance of the hotel".
Cambridgeshire Constabulary were requested for traffic control due to congestion between Lynn Road and St Mary's Street.
The crews returned to their stations by 11.25am.
The cause of the fire was accidental.
