An Ely-based farming business has shown its generosity by donating £1,000 to a charity that works with families in the county.
G’s Fresh, based in Barway, near Ely, has donated the money to help support the work of Ormiston Families, which works with families going through difficult times.
The charity’s work in Cambridgeshire includes running the Stars service, which supports children who have recently lost a parent, and Breaking Barriers, which works one-to-one with children with a parent in prison.
John Shropshire, G’s Fresh’s executive chairman, was moved to pledge the money after hearing about the work of Ormiston Families.
He said: “G’s recognises the importance of the work that Ormiston Families does in supporting children from across our community when they are going through difficult periods in their lives, and are pleased to be able to contribute in a small way to enable them to continue their valuable work.”
Matthew Pirie, philanthropy officer for Ormiston Families, said the donation came about after he bumped into Louise Hallett from G’s Fresh at an event, who was inspired by the charity’s work. She then told Mr Shropshire.
“After hearing Louise spoke to John and getting a large donation of £1,000 we now know that G’s are truly a company who go above and beyond,” he said.
“£1,000 could fund five sessions of support for a child or young person, or pay for one of our skilled practitioners for two weeks. It really does make a huge difference.
“We are always looking to partner with companies who care about their local communities and we are very lucky that G’s Fresh values aligned with ours and look forward to collaborating in the future.”
