A student from Soham Village College is fundraising for a three-week conservation expedition to Borneo next year.

Amélie has created extremely colourful, and reversible, bucket hats that she will be selling for £5 at SoFest on Sunday June 2.

Amélie’s hats will also be on sale in the run up to SoFest in the Viva charity shop in Churchgate Street in Soham.

The shop staff are also creating a festival-themed window display featuring Amélie’s bucket hats.

Alison McCalpin, of SoFest organisers Viva Arts and Community Group, said: "The Soham Village College Borneo Expedition will give students like Amélie a once in a lifetime experience.

"The trip will include learning survival skills whilst trekking through the Bornean jungle and contributing to a worthwhile conservation project.

"Students will be fully immersed in the culture; living, working and learning from local people on sustainable community and conservation initiatives.

"Perhaps their biggest challenge will be to manage for three weeks without access to modern technology!

SoFest, taking place on Soham Recreation Ground from 11.30am until 6pm, is headlined by the 90s boyband FIVE.

Additional acts on the main stage include X Factor star Andy Abraham, 80’s revival singer Nancy Ann Lee, rock guitarist and singer Ed Cusick, and Sammy Magic and his magic show. The event will also introduce the new local group Viva Vocal Vibes.

As well as the main stage attractions, there will be two family theatre shows, including a ‘puppet petting farm’. Five fairground attractions will be offering unlimited rides, including inflatables, bumper cars and trampolines.

Festival goers will also be invited to take part in craft and creative activities, and crowds will be further entertained by balloon modellers, children’s character entertainers, musicians and face painters.

There will also be a selection of food and drink vendors on site.
