A by-election is taking place in the city next month (April) for a new Ely West Ward councillor.
The previous incumbent Cllr Robert Pitt was elected to the post on May 4 2023.
On Thursday, April 18, people will go to the polls within the West Ward to elect a new parish councillor and a new district councillor.
Jafar Mirza (Independent), Jane Morgan (Independent), William Karel Novick (Liberal Democrats), Ed Perrin (Independent) and Amelia Ellen Quince (Labour Party) have been nominated for the parish election.
Ely City Council has elections every four years and the last elections were held in May 2023.
There are currently 15 members on Ely City Council. These include three for Ely East Ward, five for Ely North Ward, one for Ely Cathedral Ward and six for Ely West Ward.
They hold a mayor making ceremony every year in May and the current Mayor is Cllr Chris Philips.
Meanwhile, David Smith (Conservatives), Ross Trent (Liberal Democrat) and Adam Wilson (Labour) have been nominated for the district council election.
In the district elections voters choose from three candidates to become one of 28 elected members of East Cambridgeshire District Council.
Following the close of poll at 10pm on April 18, ballot boxes will be counted at the East Cambridgeshire District Council offices in the Council Chamber.
