A driver claimed they needed to use the toilet as an excuse for travelling at 45mph on a 30mph road.
Cambridgeshire Constabulary’s Vision Zero team spoke to the motorist while they were conducting speed checks on high-risk routes with a history of collisions due to speed.
In just four hours of patrolling in East Cambridgeshire, five traffic offence reports were issued for excess speed within just four hours.
“As the evenings grow darker and colder, road conditions become hazardous, with a potential risk of ice,” warned a spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Constabulary.
“Please reduce your speed and drive according to the road conditions.”
