Several players from Ely and Chesterton United Rink Hockey Club (ECU), played an integral part in helping the England U17s young ladies' side win silver at the European Championships.
ECU players Scarlett Courtenay-Barrow, Sarah Figredo, Gemma Cannizzo, Scarlett Castle, Emily Bolt, Sarah Moffett, who is also based in Ely, and Dottie Thorogood, who is joining ECU this season, were all part of the first England U17s team to make a grand final.
Held in Corregio, Italy, the side beat Germany and France 3-2 in the group stage thanks to two last-minute goals from captain Scarlett Courtenay-Barrow, then drew with Portugal 3-3 to book their place in the final.
England then faced off against Portugal again but came up just short as Portugal blew them away 7-1 to win the gold medal.
Scarlett Courtenay-Barrow was the tournament's second top scorer with six goals, having led in the Group stages but missed out to the Portuguese Captain after the final.

Ahead of the final, England Roller Hockey president Kos Galtos said: "You haven't just made us proud - you've rewritten what we thought was possible.
You've not only given a jolt of hope to the roller hockey community in England but have also lit the flame of possibility for aspiring players around the world."
