An inquest has been opened into the death of a man following a collision on the A14 near Chippenham last month.
Alan Bond, 39, was a manager at The Cambridge Junction, and well known in the city’s live music and entertainment scene.
He was driving a black Vauxhall Corsa when he was involved in a collision with an HGV.
At the brief hearing today (Thursday), Simon Milburn, an area coroner for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, explained Mr Bond died at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
Mr Milburn, speaking from Peterborough Town Hall, said: “[Mr Bond’s] death followed a collision on the A14 westbound carriageway at Chippenham shortly before 5am on August 29.”
A provisional case of death was given as injuries related to the road traffic collision.
The case was then adjourned for an inquest to be held on December 6.
A 33-year-old man from Kent was later arrested on suspicion of driving whilst disqualified and causing death whilst disqualified from driving.
He has been released on bail until November 28.
Mr Bond, from Bury St Edmunds, was described as an “incredible father” and a “most treasured work colleague” in tributes.
In a statement, Mr Bond’s family said: “He will be truly missed by all his family.
“We know he helped so many people and had so many close friends to whom he meant so much.
“We will remember Alan for his sense of humour and all the adventures he had with his friends and family.”
Mr Bond started working in The Box Office at The Cambridge Junction before working his way up to a manager’s position.
His colleagues said: “We all love Alan very much.
“Alan worked here for 18 years and it’s hard to imagine Cambridge Junction without him.
“He was conscientious, hardworking, generous, and kind, which always made him very popular and memorable.”
Witnesses to the collision should call 101 and speak to a member of the Road Policing Unit, quoting Op Clements.
