More than 40 firefighters attended a crop fire in Cottenham earlier this afternoon (Tuesday, July 25).
At 2.45pm, crews were called to the blaze involving standing crop on Broad Lane in the village.
A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue said: “More than 40 firefighters from stations across the county and Suffolk attended the incident.
“They worked hard to extinguish the fire, involving around 40 acres of crop, and prevent it from spreading.
“The cause of the fire was accidental.”

Members of the community took to social media to express their concern after noticing a large amount of smoke coming from the distance.
