A transport company has donated advertising space to a search and rescue charity in a bid to raise awareness of the team and what they do.
Buffaload Logistics Ltd near Huntingdon has donated one of its trailers to Cambridgeshire Search and Rescue (CamSAR).
CamSAR is made up of volunteers that are trained to assist the police in search of vulnerable and high-risk missing persons across the whole county.
To do this, the team is always needing to raise funds to continue to provide this service, not just for equipment but for petrol and insurances.
The charity receives great support from communities across the county but the efforts from Buffaload have gone to a new level.
“Unlike many of our sister organisations like Mountain Rescue, we need to respect the privacy and sensitivities associated with the types of persons we look for,” said CamSAR’s chair and search manager, Barry Carter.
“They are mainly those that are despondent, suicidal, suffering with a mental illness, dementia, or even children.
“Of course, this makes fundraising difficult if the public don’t know who you are, so we are grateful for Buffaload for doing this for us. It’s going to be a fantastic way of helping to raise awareness of who we are and what we do – and not just in Cambridgeshire!”
CamSAR is local to Buffaload Logistics, with its base in Pymoor and some of its members being from communties including Pymoor, Little Downham, Littleport and Ely.
Ross Taylor, CEO at Buffaload Logistics Ltd, said: “I’ve grown up in the Fens and my extended family are all around here, I’ve seen the difficulties people can get into.
“We’ve also had severe flooding incidents over the last few years, which threaten people’s lives and homes, so we decided to help the volunteers at CamSAR.
“At Buffaload we really appreciate the work they do to help people in our community.”
