British indie-pop group Bastille performed a career-spanning show to a huge audience at Newmarket Racecourse on Friday evening.
The gig was held as part of their tour to celebrate 10 years since the release of their debut album ‘Bad Blood’.
The title track had the thousands before them singing along to every lyric as the sun went down over the July Course – a picturesque scene that formed an unforgettable memory.
Judging from the response that each track received, you’d never have known that massive hits like the classic ‘Pompeii’, ‘Flaws’, ‘Oblivion’ and ‘Things We Lost In The Fire’ are a decade old.
The only question on every minds was ‘how has the time passed so quickly?’
However, while it was mostly a nostalgic set, the group did also perform one or two songs from their second and third albums.
Having got everyone jumping together for the anthemic 2016 single ‘Good Grief’, effortlessly charismatic frontman Dan Smith later jumped into the crowd during 2013 throwback ‘Flaws’, much to their delight.
Between songs, video-tape style behind the scenes footage gave fans a glimpse into tour life.
Despite an overcast sky and blustery wind, the band and crowd’s spirits remained equally high throughout the concert - especially after a day of racing.
Overall, Bastille made it clear why they remain as popular now as when they first broke on to the music scene in 2012.
The next concerts at Newmarket Racecourse are Craig David (July 21), Hacienda Classical (July 28), McFly (August 11) and Olly Murs (August 18).
