Help needed for history archive
May I ask readers of the Ely Standard to visit: www.ely.ccan.co.uk.
If this extensive glimpse into the history of the city interests you, will you consider becoming a contributor, or even becoming an editor, giving up as little as five minutes a week to log in to check and publish (one mouse click) any submissions.
If you find this interesting, you might wish to broaden your activities with your own photographs, interviews and research.
As little or as much as you wish to do will make a difference to the survival of this resource.
A link on the site can bring answers to any questions. If you have contacts with other parts of the county, www.ccan.co.uk will link you to other local history sites in the CCAN network and links on all the sites will bring you answers to any further questions.
If I can help you further, contact me at: downham-archive@hotmail.co.uk

Thanks for donations
The Bridge for Heroes would like to thank everyone who donated to the charity on May 6 in Ely.
The total raised was a wonderful £385.20. There were £0.16 expenses for the day. This money will go towards the provision of holistic support to serving members and veterans of all our armed forces and their families delivered by The Bridge for Heroes from our centre in King's Lynn

News from Soham
Soham Community Group
On Monday, May 15, members got together once again in the Community Centre. There was time for lots of chat while members were served coffee, tea, cakes, sausage rolls and scones which were all made by the volunteers.
Everyone welcomed Keith Clarke who played the piano and sung. He was fantastic and enjoyed by everyone. On this week's lunch menu, supplied by The Cherry Tree, there was cowboy pie followed by spotted dick and custard.
Claire and her mum Jean organised the raffle. More refreshments were served and games of bingo were played. All prizes were kindly donated by Andrew Fleet.

On the morning of Tuesday, May 16, Diane Wheeling was pleased to welcome 22 people to the coffee morning in The Pavilion.
A selection of books were available for members to peruse or buy if they wished. There was lots of chat while members were served coffee tea and biscuits. During the morning, Diane organised the raffle of prizes donated by members. These coffee mornings are held on Tuesdays, from 9am till 11am. Everyone welcome.

If you enjoy a game of bingo, why not go along to the Comrades Club on Tuesday evenings. A raffle is organised during the break for refreshments. Doors open at 7pm, for eyes down at 7.30pm. Everyone welcome.
Knit and Knatter.
Members of the club meet every Thursday afternoon at Soham Town Rangers Football club, from 1.30pm till 4pm. Lots of chat to the sound of the busy knitters. Always a project on the go or you can bring along your own knitting or crochet. For more information, contact Carol Weyman on: 01353 360289.
Over 60s Club
On the afternoon of Friday, May 19, Ruth Ginn welcomed everyone to the meeting which included three new members, Ann Balanger,J ohn Howard and Sheila Henshaw.
Unfortunatley, the speaker was not able to attend so Ruth organised a beetle drive. Everyone received a small gift for taking part. Refreshments were served and Richard Badcock organised the raffle. Richard reminded members that he would be taking names of those wishing to go on the mystery tour on July 7 at the next meeting. The singing of the club hymn brought this meeting to a close.
