Under the keen leadership of Caroline Hammill, St Andrew’s Church Witchford will be celebrating the coronation in style.

Caroline’s talent for floral arrangements will come into force for the Flower Festival that will festoon the church for the three days on May 6/7/8.

There will be trumpets decorating the pew ends, the Kings Cypher will be behind the altar, and there is a 'design a crown competition' for children.

The competition winners will be announced at 2pm on the Bank Holiday Monday and there are three £10 prizes to be won.

There will be window contributions from, the Rackham School, the Rainbows, The Brownies, Witchford Childminders, Witchford WI, and Witchford Team D.

Caroline has designed a large golden coach that will be in the porch of the church.

A banner has been made to promote the event and bunting will be put up in the trees in the churchyard.

The coronation and the concert on Sunday will be shown on a large screen in the church.

Refreshments will be served from 10.30am till midday and 2pm till 4pm on Saturday; 11am till 4pm on Sunday, and 10.30am till midday and 2pm till 4pm on Monday.

Visitors are invited to bring a lunch to share on Sunday. There will be no charges – just invitations to make donations.

On Friday, May 5, the Witchford Village Lunch will be held in St Andrew’s Hall at 12.30pm with a coronation theme.

“We are absolutely delighted that Caroline has taken on this huge task and rallied the village into celebrating the coronation in style.

Thanks also go to Witchford Parish Council for their contribution to the costs of the Flower Festival. This great historical event will be well remembered, “ said churchwarden Rosemary Westwell.
