Author Simon James Green visited students at Soham Village College as a climax to a fortnight of World Book Day celebrations.
He engrossed Year Eight and Year Nine with tales from his school days, linking them to how he finds the humour in tricky situations and builds that into his work.
A very lucky group of students from Year 10 were also treated to a talk on the realities of becoming an author and advice on how to get published.
Students were especially excited to be able to meet him in the library at lunchtime, where they also had their copies of his books signed.
Soham Village College’s librarian, Mrs Webb, said: “Simon was such a treat to be able to offer out students.
“He didn’t shy away from the awkwardness of everyday student life and I’m looking forward to seeing his books fly off the library shelves this week!”
