Soham Town Rangers gained revenge over neighbours Ely City after a narrow cup win.
Jon Kaye’s second half strike proved the difference for the Greens in the Eastern Counties League Challenge Cup on November 15, having lost to the Robins in a league clash earlier this season.
Soham’s cause was helped after the break when Ely’s Austen Diaper was sent off on 74 minutes, as Lloyd Groves’ men look ahead to a round four tie.
Good game tonight between @SohamTownRanger v @ElyCityFC . Home team the winners but away team had chances.

Not the blood and guts of yesteryear but both teams tried to play. Next round and now to @HeathOfficiaI on Friday night
Writing on Twitter, Soham chairman Mark Goldsack said: “Good game between Soham Town Rangers and Ely City.
“Home team the winners but the away team had chances; not the blood and guts of yesteryear, but both teams tried to play.”
Soham aim for a second Eastern Counties Premier Division win in a row at Lakenheath on Friday night, 7.45pm.
As for Ely, they are without a fixture this weekend and return at Kirkley & Pakefield on November 26.
