PETER DAWES Bishop of Derby 1988-95, died peacefully on 10 November aged 94. He retired in 1995 and he and Ethel went to live in Ely, where, along with joining the cathedral congregation, Peter initially worked as an assistant Bishop in the diocese. Their home remained as open and welcoming as ever and they made many friends through the Cathedral, neighbours, and the relished book club. He is survived by their four children, who had cherished him as a delightful and fun-loving dad, and also by five grandchildren. His funeral is to be at Ely Cathedral at 1pm on 25th November 2022. The family welcome all those who knew him. Family flowers only please, but donations if desired may be made to Ely Cathedral or Dementia UK.
