A new charity shop is now open on Ely High Street after a special ribbon cutting ceremony with Sharon Allen OBE.

The Arthur Rank Hospice Charity now has a shop at 20/22 High Street in Ely, and is the sixth shop operated by the charity in Cambridgeshire.

Sharon Allen OBE is the CEO of Arthur Rank Hospice Charity. She was joined by Emma Bratby, the Hospice at Home matron, and Jenny Kidd, team lead nurse for Hospice at Home.

They were joined by Arthur Bear, and a selection of volunteers and local business members for the opening.

The staff and volunteers at the shop will now be welcoming shoppers six days a week, Monday to Saturday from 9am until 5pm, to browse for bargains. Sunday opening hours are planned for later on in the year.

The shop is full of women's and children's clothes, menswear, designer clothing, bric-a-brac, and different kinds of media.

Sharon said: "It’s wonderful to see so many people here today supporting the opening of our brand-new store, and that we have the opportunity to expand further into the North Cambridgeshire area, where we already provide our outstanding care via our Hospice at Home service."

All of the proceeds made at the new Ely charity shop will go to support people in Cambridgeshire living with an advanced serious illness, or other life-limiting conditions, or those who need end of life care.

Services provided by the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity are free of charge to patients and their families at the Alan Hudson Centre in Wisbech, in their own homes in the community, or at the hospice in Cambridge.

Anyone who would like to volunteer at the shop or donate pre-loved items can pop into the shop or phone: 01354 577001.
