Gumtree is full of great deals and rare finds, but sometimes you can come across some rather peculiar items for sale.
The platform was founded as a local London classified ads and community site in 2000, and designed to connect Australians, New Zealanders and South Africans who had just arrived in the city.
From tamed budgies to a food truck, here are just a few of the utterly unexpected items we found up for grabs in Ely.
Kid’s shopping trolley
Kicking off a quirky collection of used items is this Melissa and Doug kids shopping trolley, and it could be yours for £20.
The seller admits that it is missing a seat, but that this shouldn’t impact the overall quality.
Tamed budgies
This seller is parting ways with six young budgies, available for just £25 each.
The owner claims to have spent “lots of time” with the birds so they are ready for their “forever home”.
They add: “It’s hard to say with 100 per cent accuracy what sex they are as they’ve very young.”
Synthetic sheep
This unusual stool is available in Littleport with a similar item selling for £750, according to the owner.
A synthetic wool stool styled as a sheep with wooden legs could be yours for £300.
The owner isn’t sure what material the head is made of.
Vintage gramophone
This seller is parting with a vintage His Masters Voice (HMV) gramophone which lay in the corner of a room for a number of years.
It can be yours for £130 but will need some work to restore to its original condition.
Food truck
Fancy a career in catering? This food truck is up for sale.
With everything you need to cook including fridges, freezers and even a hot water boiler, it’s available for £20,000.
London-themed thimbles
Depicting various famous landmarks, these London themed thimbles are on sale for £40.
They come in a set of six.
Hardwood mushroom
If you’re a fan of all things fungi, then this 40-inch hard-wood mushroom is for you.
Perfect for decoration and having travelled all the way from The Gambia, according to the seller, it can be yours for £40.
